Reports of gunfire at an intersection near Wal-Mart in Mexia on Thursday, October 25, 2018, led Mexia Police Department to a suicide investigation.
“The case is only being investigated as a suicide,” explains Mexia PD Chief, Brian Bell. “There are no other indications to take our investigation elsewhere.”
Officers responding to the scene on Highway 84 found a 37-year-old male deceased from a gunshot wound at the wheel of a car in a field nearby. They found an AR pistol in the vehicle.
A witness told officers that as he was leaving Wal-Mart, he heard a gunshot coming from inside the car, which was stopped at the red light. He explained that the car then accelerated through the intersection and ran off the road into the field.
