Fairfield, Texas with Freestone County, and even more outlaying areas proved the strength of commitment to their people this past week.
As soon as people started realizing that Mr. McCeig was missing, people started to jump into action.
Numerous first responders, officers, helicopter units, and individuals came to help.
People came from as far as two hours away out of their warm homes, missed work, and sacrificed their time to help.
Social media echoed with calls to look for him and to pray for him.
The amount of amazement and joy at finding him, not only alive but conscious, was echoed throughout a community that had spent 24 hours in prayer.
Following the discovery of Mr. McCeig, Sheriff Jeremy Shipley gathered people who had helped with the search and gave a highly emotional speech saying, “This is why we love Freestone County, right here.”
Amy Evans took to social media to express what the communities’ actions made her realize, “And yet, perhaps the real miracle is that in this day and age, a place like this still exists.”
Sheriff Shipley took to Social media after taking a few days to recuperate to farther talk about the extent of help provided during the search.
He gives special recognition, in his social media post, to Fairfield VFD Chief Chandler Baggerly for his actions during the search.
His post ends with him saying, “In ending, I’m just going to give a big o’l “ATTA BOY!” to our county. We reside in a special place with special people. No doubt about it.”
