Singer/Songwriter/Actress Amanda McBroom is coming to Fairfield to share her song stories, her wit and her joy of singing.
The artist will be presenting a Valentine concert, sponsored by Trinity Star Arts Council (TSAC) and the City of Fairfield, on February 10 at Depot X Event Center.
Along with her accompanist and writing partner Michele Brourman, McBroom has composed songs for many TV shows, videos and musicals.
The duo has collaborated on numerous musical projects; both will be onstage for this upcoming show in Fairfield, Texas.
One of the greatest cabaret performers of her generation, McBroom’s performances have taken her from the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall, as well as to countless concert venues around the world.
With three decades of stage experience, she has learned to connect her mind, her voice and her heart as she shares her musical stories with the audience.
She has fun creating and scripting her own shows, finding joy in the process. Her most notable composition, “The Rose,” won Best Original Song at the Golden Globe and Grammy Awards in 1980.
Daughter of actor David Bruce, McBroom attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas, which was also the Alma Mater of well-known artists Sandy Duncan and Tommy Tune. It was there that drama professor Zula Pearson directed her in several stage productions and nurtured her career.
McBroom’s extensive background in musical theatre encompasses many roles in stage productions in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
She has made numerous appearances in TV shows such as Starsky and Hutch, Hawaii Five-O, Magnum, P.I., Gunsmoke and Star Trek (as Captain Philippa Louvois).
Her songs have been recorded by a wide variety of artists, including Barry Manilow, LeAnn Rimes, Anne Murray, Harry Belafonte, Manhattan Transfer, Conway Twitty and The Chipmunks.
A graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Fine Arts, McBroom is married to her actor husband of many years, George Ball. They make their home in Southern California.
