The cross country will compete in Belton Thursday in preparation for the District meet in Fairfield on October 9.

The teams have had five previous meets since August. The Varsity Girls and Boys both placed second as a team in the Golden Eagle Run in Fairfield on September 30. Collin Loviette placed second, and Aaron Valentin placed fourth on the boys team.

“Several athletes’ times improved, and we are looking for to our next meet on Thursday in Belton,” coach Tarsha Graves said. “[I hope for the teams] to advance as far as they can.”

At the Eustes High School meet on September 23, the JV girls placed second.

I feel like it’s a great opportunity for the whole team and for us as individuals,” junior Zada Pjetrovic said. “We’ve been performing very well the past few meets, and I have lots of confidence in us.”

At the Ennis High School meet on September 16, the JV girls placed first as a team.

“JV Girl did very well,” Graves said. “All of their times dropped. JV girls won first and did very well motivating one another. The Varsity boys did very well. All of their times dropped and JV boys did very well.”

At the McGregor meet on September 2, the varsity girls placed eighth overall, JV girls placed first overall with seven girls in the top 15, and varsity boys placed 7th overall.

“Since I started cross country my sophomore year,” Pjetrovic said, “my goal has always been to drop my times and keep pushing myself no matter how tired I feel.”
