The Groesbeck Goats fell behind early and could not keep pace with the Grandview Zebras and lost their third consecutive district game 57-14.
Groesbeck fell behind 35-0 midway through the third quarter and the Grandview Zebras had too much offense for the Goats. Dane Jentsch scored early on a three yard run and Kasey Black added a 26 yard catch for the 14-0 score at the end of the first quarter.
Elijah Golden ran 13 yards for a touchdown and Jacob Patterson hauled in a six yard touchdown pass for a big lead. Austin Boyd caught the third touchdown of the night from Jentsch for a 35-0 score before the Goats could get on the scoreboard. Ameer Lee put the Goats on the board with a one yard score.
Jentsch used his legs for the next score on a 42 yard run and followed with a ten yard run later in the game when the score was out of reach.
Groesbeck had a late touchdown to set the final score at 57-14.
The Goats are 1-3 in district play and trail the West Trojans, Whitney Wildcats and Grandview Zebras. They are a half game behind the Teague Lions that hold the tiebreaker over them with the win last week in Groesbeck. The Goats have their open week this week and finish the season with games against McGregor and district leading Whitney.
