Palestine Community Theatre’s Spring production of Gilligan’s Island: The Musical, directed by Michael Cook, will take the show on the road and perform as a part of Trinity Star Arts Council’s season. Two performances at the Teague High Theatre are scheduled for April 13th at 7:30 p.m. and April 14th at 2:00 p.m. The comedic musical based on the iconic TV show will run the two weekends prior in Palestine and is sponsored by Nucor Vulcraft-Grapeland.
Fun fact: the theme song for Gilligan’s Island changed after the first season. In Season 1, the list of passengers in the song ended with “the movie star and the rest,” but Bob Denver, who played Gilligan, protested. He told the network executives to add the Professor and Mary Ann or take his name (the star) out. Come see PCT’s production of this musical based on a few of the escapades of the castaways, and you’ll hear the updated version of the theme song. You might even find out if the cast, which includes Fairfield resident, Rachel Bossier portraying Ginger, are rescued.
Tickets for the Freestone County performances are $10 each and available online at www.TrinityStarArtsCouncil.org or at Armadillo Emporium in Fairfield. For more information, please call 903-388-4765.
See you at the show!
