Trinity Star Arts Council will be showcasing renowned hometown artist Andy Don Emmons at an October 17, 2024, Art Walk to be held at the TSAC Gallery.
Andy will exhibit a selection of Western folk art, entitled ‘GHOST RIDERS,’ named for one of his large pieces (shown at right). Each piece has a unique story, and Andy will be at the gallery from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to tell those stories and share his inspirations for each piece.
Andy Don Emmons, Jr. was born 1966 into a family of fifth-generation ranchers in East Texas. Inspired by the tall tales of his family, friends, and foes he began drawing, sculpting, and painting the skewed rural world around him. He left Fairfield to obtain a Fine Arts degree from Sam Houston University and lived in the Dallas area before returning to his ranching roots a few years ago.
The journey in between had many highlights, including befriending the well-known folk artist Rev. Johnnie Swearingen from Brenham, TX. They painted alongside each other for several years.
While Andy was in Dallas, Bob Wade took an interest in him, and he became his unofficial protégé for a period of time.
He went on to exhibit his work all over Texas and has shown in New Orleans, Chicago and beyond.
Andy does not limit himself to any one medium. He is well known for his art cars, including the famous rhinestone encrusted Cadillac (featured twice at The Bob Bullock Texas History Museum), backyard art environments, outrageous sculptures, and meticulous detailed drawings with map pencils, Sharpies, watercolors, and even cattle marker oil sticks.
Andy’s works are included in The House of Blues Collection, Kansas Folk Life Museum, folk art permanent collection of The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (Beaumont), Orange Show and many private collections.

‘Ghost Riders’ opens at the TSAC Gallery, 115 S Mount in Fairfield, on Thursday evening, October 17th, at 5:30 pm. Meet Andy, hear about his art pieces and enjoy sips and snacks.
The ‘Ghost Riders’ exhibition will be on display through October 30th, with gallery hours MWF, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
