Students started back to school this week, and following a brief respite from an activity-packed holiday, community events begin to pick up again in January.
Here are a few things worth adding to the calendar:
THURS., JAN 11TH
–Dew ISD Homecoming Pep Rally at 3:30 p.m. will include crowning of this year’s King and Queen.
FRI., JAN 12TH
–Fairfield Hiring Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Green Barn Civic Center. Job hunters can skip the line by pre-registering here. Businesses may register to attend the event online at form.jotform.com/221876933226159
SAT., JAN 13TH
–Freestone County 4-H Archery Club 3D Shoot at Case Robinson Memorial Range. Check-in at 8:30 a.m., Safety meeting 9:15 a.m. Lunch included with each bow fee. Register by January 9th. For details call Jerry Bonds at 903-654-2228.
TUES., JAN 16TH
–Spanish Lessons for Beginners at Fairfield Library every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Call 903-389-3574 to sign up for the FREE classes.
THURS., JAN 25TH
–Fairfield Chamber Awards Banquet. Theme is ‘Wild Wild West.’ Saloon doors open at 5:30 p.m. for Happy Hour. Banquet starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets $40 per person, or $320 for table of 8. Award Nominations due Jan 5th.
FRI., JAN 26TH
–BINGO Family Game Night at Teague Public Library from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All materials and prizes provided. All ages welcome.
FEB 2ND-3RD
–Teague FFA 11th Annual Varmint Hunt. Teams may consist of 1-4 members, entry fee is $200. Side pots $25 each. For more information, visit online at teague.ffanow.org
SUN., FEB 4TH
–Recital by Violinist Maria Schleuning and Cellist Jolyon Pegis of the Dallas Symphone Orchestra. Performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church located at 515 FM 416, Streetman. Reception will follow. Sponsored by Trinity Star Arts Council.
