The Grand 01’ Christmas Show is coming to Freestone County! Produced by Will Hearn and featuring the talents of Blue Water Highway, this rollicking, one-of-a-kind musical comedy is presented as a retro Christmas Eve broadcast on N-O-E-L 1225 Radio Theater. It is interspersed with humorous skits and driven by the music of all-time favorite Christmas classics.
Originating in Brazoria County, the show was conceived as a way to update Christmas entertainment through a concept called “progressive nostalgia”– combining progressive and culturally relevant ideas with nostalgic seasonal tunes within a vintage time period that would appeal to a multi-generational audience. It made its premier appearance in 2003 as a fundraiser for a local charity and turned out to be a surprise hit. From this initial presentation evolved an annual tour that continues to grow. Our community is fortunate to have been chosen as oneof the show’s 15 venues included in the 2021 tour across Texas.
With its history rooted in charitable giving, The Grand 01’ Christmas Show continues to give back to organizations that enrich local communities such as The Brazosport Center for the Arts and Sciences, Military Moms and Wives, Habitat for Humanity, True to Life Ministries and Interfaith Food Pantry.
Since the show’s inception fifteen years ago, the artists involved have helped to raise over $150,000 for these groups.
Whether you are a boomer or a millennial, this tribute to American Christmas traditions is sure to provide an evening of enjoyment and holiday inspiration for all ages.
The Grand 01’ Christmas Show will be appearing at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, at the Theatre at Teague High. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at Armadillo Emporium in Fairfield, Every Bloomin’ Thing in Teague or online at trinitystarartscouncil.org.
