Geraldine Bradford Sawyers, 89, of Dew Community passed away on February 26, 2023, at her home. She was born on April 18, 1933, in Elkhart, Texas to Watson Bradford and Amelia Benton Bradford. She was a faithful member of the Donie Baptist Church. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. She worked diligently as Lester’s carpenter helper, fence builder, and as well as a mother and homemaker. Lester always thought of her as the best helper anyone could have. Her four daughters remember her as always humming “In the Garden’ as she worked around the house.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lester Sawyers; parents, Watson & Amelia Bradford; three brothers, Roland Bradford, Robert Bradford and Doyle Bradford; two sisters, Dorothy Brunson & Audra Mae Pierson; two sons-in-law’s, Chris Hodgens Sr. and Richard Shelly. She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Shelly of Huntsville, Kathy Hodgens of Axtell, Darlene Cockerell and husband Donnie of Fairfield and Helen Cannon and husband Thomas of Dew; eighteen grandchildren, Robert Cockerell and wife Melody, Chris Hodgens Jr. and wife Connie, Shellie Davis and husband Davin, Drew Hodgens and wife Leinne, Ross Shelly and wife Deana, Tommy Cockerell and fiancé, Kim, Byron Shelly and wife Stephanie, Dusty Cockerell and wife Cristian and Genea Dillon and husband Brett; twenty four great-grandchildren, plus Dillon’s twins due in August. She is also survived by sister, Merle Bradford Bridges, several nieces, nephews and faithful companion grand-dog Ranger. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so excited about the upcoming birth of twin great-grandchildren. We believe that she is loving on them up in Heaven right now and helping Jesus to keep an eye on them until they are born.
The family would like to thank to Providence Hospice and a special thanks to Laura Gore for all their care.
