Nearly thirty local entrepreneurs attended last week’s Business After Hours at Gilberto’s Restaurant in Fairfield to enjoy networking, encouragement, and fun.
Stace Holland, CEO of Freestone Medical Center, shared information about the transition process from the former ETMC hospital.
One of the challenges has been getting the billing information transferred over to the new name.
Most patients are still receiving a bill from the former hospital, and insurance payments are going through ETMC first, with Freestone Medical Center (FMC) being reimbursed at a later date.
The situation has developed because of the time it takes for Medicare to make the name change-over.
FMC was not allowed to apply for the name change until January 1st, and the governmental entity takes up to nine months to process all the necessary paperwork, says Holland.
In the meantime, they have appreciated the patience of their patients.
“This is you hospital, now,” says Holland, who encourages residents to use their local facilities.
Business After Hours is hosted by Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. Everyone is invited to attend, even if you are not already a Chamber member.
The next event will be held on Thursday, July 6th at Gilberto’s Restaurant. Guest speaker will be Karen Leidy of Freestone County Times.
