The Freestone County Sheriff’s Office was able to secure a grant from the Office of the Governor for 80 doses of Narcan Nasal Spray (With the ability to get more on request if needed), in order to have available for our county in case we have a victim who overdoses, or an LEO or First Responder who may come in contact with the dangerous drug, fentanyl. It takes less than 2mg to cause death. Deputies can administer this nasal spray to the victim and it provides a chance to reverse the effects of opioid overdose in 2 to 3 minutes allowing for emergency medical help to arrive.
We appreciate the Governor’s Office teaming up with our county agency in order to help fight the death toll due to the fentanyl crisis, especially for those who unknowingly become victims.
