A vehicle pursuit involving a motorcycle that started with DPS in Madisonville (April 2, 2022) that our FCSO became involved in as it entered Freestone County, has come to a safe ending for all parties involved.
Texas DPS will be handling the investigation, any information, and all charges against the suspect.
Good multi-agency teamwork, again, in bringing a dangerous situation to safe closure. And….. fantastic job by our Dispatcher Leslie Gonzalez as she handled multiple tasks, but stayed focus in providing continuous up to date information on the pursuit.

In the early morning hours of today (Sunday, April 3, 2022), a traffic stop was conducted in the Fairfield area due to a traffic violation. Upon Deputy Leatherman’s initial contact with the driver at the vehicle, Deputy Leatherman smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the car. Deputy Hill arrived on scene as back up and to assist.
Further investigation lead to the finding of over a pound and half of marijuana, separated up for distribution in separate bags. Along with the “STILL ILLEGAL PLANT”, 2 handguns, a scale, and a black ski mask were located. The FCSO also seized $2,557 in cash.
Upon the Deputy attempting to handcuff the driver, the driver resisted arrest, but was eventually handcuffed and arrested.
The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was arrested for the following:
* Manufacturing/Delivery
* Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
* Resisting Arrest
While the majority of our citizens are sleeping, our night Deputies are on patrol carrying out our 24-hour, 7 day a week, duties. Two handguns, drugs, and a ski mask sounds like a mixture of bad news. Good work here by a couple of our night watchers.
