Several high school athletes in the Bi-Stone Area competed in the events of the 2025 Victory Bowl sponsored and hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. At the event’s conclusion, the athletes represented the area very well in their performance.
The events began locally with the basketball games for boys and girls. The site was the Johnson Activity Center on the campus of Fairfield High School. Fairfield Lady Eagles, Jaci Abram and Jimilyah Nash, played for the Blue All-Stars. They would help the Blue team dominate the game and win 58-31.
Journee White of Academy and Jayla Lee of Bosqueville scored early, and the Blue team weathered a run by the Red All-Stars but trailed after one period. The Blue squad would go on a 22-3 run throughout the second period and take a double-digit lead into the half. Nash hit a pair of three pointers in the frame and dished a pair of assists for Blue team scores. Nash hit her third three pointer of the contest and the run continued through the third period.
The teams played even throughout the fourth period and the Blue All-Stars completed a 58-31 dominating win. Nash scored 13 points with a rebound and two assists and fellow Lady Eagle Abram did not score in the contest but had a couple of steals and pulled down seven rebounds.
Jayla Lee scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds and was named the Most Valuable Player in the game.
James Johnson of Wortham played for the Red team in the boys’ division and they would also fall in the game to the Blue squad 73-63.
The Blue team maintained a lead through the first half and Monta Hillard (LaVega) scored ten points in the first half. The Red All-Stars mounted a run in the third period and Johnson scored on a pair of offensive rebounds and took their first lead on a Kade Smith (Crawford) score. Hillard and Jamarion Haynes (Killeen) took control of the game and closed out the final minutes of the 73-63 Blue squad win.
Monta Hillard scored 20 points and was named the Most Valuable Player.
The site returned to Waco ISD Stadium on Saturday morning for the annual Victory Bowl football game. The showcase of great Central Texas athletes performed well, and the game would end in a 17-17 tie.
Wortham Bulldog athletes Trett Carroll and Kymani Johnson started on the offensive side of the ball for the Red team and Fairfield Eagle Justus Savage played for the Blue team. Korey Silar and James Ingram also appeared on both sides of the ball for the Blue team.
The Red All-Stars jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead, but the Blue team scored 17 unanswered points in the second half on a pair of Trent Platt (Groesbeck) rushing touchdowns late in the game. The second touchdown was sparked by a turnover by the Red offense and a fumble that was recovered by Korey Silar.
All the area athletes stayed at host homes and did some community service during the week and culminated in the games in the Waco area.
