The Freestone County Democrat Forum will hold an in-person meeting on May 26th at Sam’s Restaurant. The Forum is a support group of like-minded people supporting the Democratic Party, the Democratic ideals, and each other. This will be the first meeting in person since the pandemic began.
At the meeting, we will discuss Texas Senate Bill 9 and House bill 6, currently working its way through the Capitol. This bill has created arguments on both sides of the aisle, so we will discuss the effect of the legislation on the Freestone County voters, the political organizations in the County, and the voting process.
Our speaker that evening will be Darcy Caballero from the Voter Protection Division of the Texas Democratic Party. Darcy and the entire protection bureau have been following these bills and will explain what is happening with the twenty amendments and how the Senate version is different and the same as the House version.
If you are interested in your right as a citizen to vote, you will want to hear Darcy’s presentation.
The Forum invites all citizens of Freestone County to join us on May 26th, at 6:30 pm at Sam’s. The buffet will be open, or you may order from the menu. There will be individual checks issued, so you will be free to order whatever appeals to you before the meeting starts.
