>
It was a full house at this year’s Freestone County 4-H Awards Banquet, which include a potluck meal, a cake auction and a dance. The awards ceremony was presided over by members of the student council.
Outstanding Adult Leader Award
For the past several years JENNIFER DANIEL has been the leader and coach for Food Challenge, Food Show and most recently Ag Product ID. Jennifer stepped up and offered these practices for 4-H members interested in the food and nutrition contests. She provides the location, supplies and the time commitment needed to make these teams successful. Her success in this area is proven by the large number of kids that participate in the food challenge from Freestone County.
“We want to thank you, Jennifer, for all your hard work and dedication to this program,” said presenter Kade Kimball.
Friend of 4-H Award
“There are three levels of support or contribution in the 4-H program,” said Rachel Lewis. “The County Agent – in a directing role; the Adult Leaders, who serve as the driving force behind it all; and Community Support.”
“Many businesses in the area donate time and money to the youth in 4-H,” continued Lewis. “Without their efforts, our program not be near as big or successful. They are truly of Friends of 4-H and show that by continuously supporting 4-H events.”
This year’s recipient of the Friends of 4-H award is GRANT HOLMES.
Being a past Freestone County 4-H member as well, Grant Holmes has been willing to help with livestock judging, clipping animals, judging recordbooks, judging contests and sitting on committees for us whenever needed. Grant is always willing to help 4-H members in any way and his Landscaping business Holmes Landscaping donated a tree to Wortham 4H for One Day 4-H.
