The weekly Lake Fairfield Tuesday Night Bass Tournaments began this month on April 2nd and the results show bass fishing on the local lake is yielding some night fish being brought to the scales.
Fourteen anglers competed during the first event on April 2nd with Paul Cobb of Fairfield winning first place with a 6.06 pound bass. Michael Craddick, also of Fairfield, placed second with a 5.29 pound. Their winnings were $168 for first place and $112 for second.
The April 9th tournament yielded 19 anglers competing with Terry Vickers placing first with a 7.05 pound bass. Vickers took home $228 while Craig Gross won second place and $152 for his 6.28 pound fish.
The most recent tournament was held April 16th with 15 anglers competing during a very windy afternoon. Craig Gross placed in the money for the second time this spring with a 5.73 pound largemouth bass that gave him a cash prize of $180 for first place. Fairfield’s Taylor Paul placed second with a 5.62 pound bass and carried home $120 in winnings.
Entry fee for the 2019 events is $20 per person with 100% of the entry fees being paid back to the winning fishermen. Payout on a field of 1-20 entries is 60% of the pot for first place and 40% for second. If 21 or more anglers participate, the pot is split 50% for first, 30% for second and 20% for third place.
The weekly tournament is conducted out of the front boat ramp at Lake Fairfield. Registration is taken from 5:00 pm-5:25 pm. Tournament hours are 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm. For more information, contact Paul Cobb at 903-879-0422.
