It was a day of wrecks on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Fairfield area, with a total of four within a six-hour period.
The first wreck of the day was called in at about 10:10 a.m. Officer Mary Bates responded to the scene on Highway 84, just east of the I-45 bridge.
Gabriella Izquierdo, driving a 2008 Avalanche, pulled out of a private drive in front of Paul Barker in a pickup truck, striking his left rear quarter panel. No injuries were reported in this incident.
Wreck number two was called in right around noon; and Officer Weldon Alexander was dispatched to the intersection of Highway 84 and FM 488.
Jalyn Jackson, driving a 2010 black Hyundai car, was traveling west on Highway 84. Thomas Nyman, who was traveling east on Hwy 84 in a tan-colored 2009 Ford F150 turned left onto FM 488 in front of Jackson, causing the wreck. Jackson and two passengers, Zachary Barlow and Akeem Jackson, were all transported to a Medical Center with possible injuries that needed care from a back doctor. While this wreck was being cleared, another wreck occurred near the same area; this time at Highway 84 and Cotton Street.
Officer Alexander, already on the scene, worked this wreck as well.
At about 12:25 p.m., driver Carlos Means in a 2011 red Lincoln car was headed west on Highway 84 and was preparing to turn when Walter Herrmann and wife Melissa were behind him. Herrmann, driving a 2011 black Caravan, attempted to swerve to keep from rear-ending Means. Herrmann’s front driver’s side hit Means’ rear passenger side. No injuries were reported in this accident. The final collision of the day was called in at 3:30 p.m. Again, Officer Alexander was dispatched to the scene, this time at Highway 84 and Post Oak Road at the blinking light.
Ashlee McGowan, driving a 2016 Toyota, pulled out onto Highway 84 from Post Oak Road in front of Janet Naquin, who was headed east on Highway 84 in a 1997 GMC pickup.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
