Weather permitting, beginning Friday, August 1, 2025, the new bridge on FM 80 at South Fork Sanders Creek in Donie will be opened to traffic.
Beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, the Sanders Creek bridge will be closed to allow for the removal of existing bridge and the construction of a new bridge at this location. This closure is anticipated to last through December 2025.
Through traffic will not be allowed during this time. To alert drivers, portable changeable message signs will be placed in advance of the closure along with a signed detour directing drivers on how to drive around the closure. The signed detour will consist of SH 164 and FM 489 west of Donie. Drivers should exercise caution and be prepared for delays during this construction.
This project is contracted to PMCO Construction, LLC for $2.767 million dollars and is anticipated to be completed by January 2026.
Message boards will be in place advising drivers about the closure and law enforcement officers will be in place to help with the flow of traffic.
