“We want to thank everyone who came out to help support our Scholarship and Event Fundraiser this last weekend,” says Ricky Salazar, founder of Standing Sober. “We raised enough funds to award one scholarship this year to a Fairfield High School senior, as well as to help with getting our in-person meetings up and running.”
Standing Sober, a support group for addicts, recovering addicts, and their family and friends, held its First Annual Family Fun Fair on Saturday, April 13, 2024, and it was a great success.
Nine teams came out to compete for the trophy in Corn Hole.
Earning the top spot were Dustin Wright and Noah Webb; second place went to Shane Turner and Katy Bates, and coming in third were Sierra Sanders and Chris Gore.
Taking home a 50-inch TV from the raffle was Courtney Reynolds; and Sadie Edwards snagged a gift certificate for a new tattoo.
There was a bounce house (left) and face painting for the kiddos and several vendor booths displaying their wares.
Great fun was had by all. Be sure to check them out next year at their 2nd Annual Family Fun Fair.
Salazar also announces that the group will begin their in-person meetings, starting Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. to be held at the Shine building in Fairfield, Texas (located at 534 E. Commerce Street).
These meetings are for anyone who has been affected by addiction.
