A building loved by an entire community was engulfed in flames before being able to be saved.
On Saturday, January 23, 2021, dispatchers put out a call for a reported residential structure fire located at Caney Creek Lodge, on the main building.
Caney Creek Lodge has hosted many weddings and other events throughout the years, not to mention the many hunts that have taken place there.
Teague, Fairfield, Dew, Wortham and Kirvin Fire Department’s all responded, but the building was fully involved, meaning completely on fire, with the roof collapsed.
At this point a defensive attack was made on the fire, and a good amount of overhaul was performed.
Overhaul is making sure the fire is out and has not managed to get to another location.
Also on the scene was Teague Hospital District EMS and Freestone County Sheriff’s Office.
