Mutual aid response to Fairfield for a reported structure fire at an assisted living facility. E92 arrived as the second in engine. We assisted with overhaul and clean up. Fairfield FD made a quick knock down on the fire that started in a wall and extended into the attic. Dew FD and FEMS assisted as well. All residents were evacuated safely. Solid work by all agencies.

Multiple departments worked an approximate 100 acre grass fire caused by a downed power line. A vehicle struck a utility pole causing the line to fall. At the time of this post (20:15), crews are still on scene with approximately 50 round bales of hay burning. Special thanks to Texas Towing for pulling out stuck fire trucks and using their Skytrak machine to move the burning hay bales. We also want to give a huge thank you to Sam’s restaurant for donating food and drinks for the firefighters. Neighbors with tractors, Freestone County with a maintainer and skid steer machine were all very helpful in making fire breaks. Many folks to thank for their help today.

If you are planning a controlled burn, please be extremely careful and call the sheriff’s department at 903-389-3236 (option 1) to give them the information regarding the burn. This will hopefully keep the FD’s from chasing smoke calls unnecessarily. Thank you.
