Fairfield Fire Department responds to fully involved structure fire on Tuesday evening, October 8, 2024.

At around 5:15 p.m., FFD responded to a kitchen fire caused by a cooking grease incident. While in route, dispatch updated that the occupants had thrown the burning pan into the yard, igniting a small grass fire while the kitchen fire escalated to a fully involved structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames on three sides of the structure with significant smoke churning from the soffits.
Mutual aid was requested of Dew, Teague and Buffalo FD. Crews quickly deployed two pre-connects and a bumper line to attack the fire from multiple angles.

Thanks to the collaborative tactical and relentless efforts, the team successfully brought the fire under control. The structure’s roof and wall modifications created hidden plenum spaces, allowing smoke and flames to spread rapidly, unseen.

Also, a shout-out to Fairfield EMS for their support at the scene while crews worked diligently to tap the fire out. Kudos and many thanks to all agencies for their exceptional teamwork in managing this challenging incident.
