A relaxed and calm environment was around the Courthouse on Election Night, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
While most people where at home watching the presidential elections, a few people gathered at the Freestone County Courthouse waiting on more local results.
Early voting and mail-in ballots came out about 7:30 p.m. and by 9:15 p.m. the unofficial reports were tallied.
This year’s election broke all the records with a total of 8,721 ballots cast in Freestone County. This was just over one thousand more votes than the last presidential election, between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton.
Voter turnout represented 69.87% of registered voters, the largest percentage in twenty-eight years.
The only election with a higher percentage would be the 1992 presidential elections between Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush, which recorded a 70.53% of registered voters in Freestone County.
