“Warning: Toxic Specimen,” read the sign on a see-thru backpack carrying Rufus, the hairless cat. His owner, Jennifer, finished out their costume with an aluminum foil hat.

These two took First Place in the first Howls and Meows Pet Costume Contest, held Saturday, October 19, 2019 on the square in downtown Fairfield, Texas.

“Everyone did a great job and we were so pleased with the turn out,” said Brenda Pate, Executive Director of Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, who hosted the event.

Additional winners include:

–Second Place: Chance and Radar, dressed as a ghost and ghost buster;

–Third Place: Avi and Charlotte, dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf;

–Special Howlmazing Award: Demetrio and Lady, who walked the stage with a monkey on her back.

Judges for the event were Libby Harris of Premier Realty, Gina Martin of Fairfield ISD, and Eli Pratt of Incommons Bank.

Special thanks to Chris Christensen Systems for sponsoring the event.

“We hope you will make plans to join us next year,” said Pate.
