Once again back on track, the Fairfield cross country team traveled to Canton to compete against the toughest competition so far this season. Athletes always expect competition at any meet, but this race was far more competitive.
Varsity boys began the day, and out of 78 runners, Andy Smith placed 26th. Joey Davis came in 33rd, Hunter Noland in 35th, Deandre Rosales in 42nd, Landon Espinoza in 53rd, and Tye Farmer in 61st place. As a team, the varsity boys finished in seventh place, Mount Vemon beating them by only one point.
The next race to take place was the JV boys’ race. Jeremy Long finished in 19th place, David West in 59th place, and Eddie Sanchez in 70th place. Unfortunately, the JV boys did not qualify as a team, as they did not have five or more runners.
Varsity girls battled throughout the race with Kaufman athletes. Madison Smith finished 3rd, Morgan Coleman finished 7th, Alexis Rodriguez finished 14th, Victoria Donohoo finished 21st, Ashlyn Partain finished 26th, Britain Bossier finished 29th, and Erica McQuinn finished 38th. The girls placed second as a team, Kaufman finished with a total of 34 point and the Lady Eagles with 53 points.
Junior Varsity girls had their fair share of Kaufman competition. Brooke Leatherman placed 8th, Natalia Salazar placed 9th, Jenny Pina placed 10th, Melanie Pina finished 13th, Michelle Rosales placed 14th, Diana Casteneda placed 16th, Kailee Marchand placed 20th, Andrea Jauregui placed 37th, Paige Allen placed 43rd, Coral Chavez placed 49th, Alex Casteneda placed 62nd, and Anahy Munoz placed 65th.
