Jenifer Johnson has achieved the highest educational honor and earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Sam Houston, State University’s commencement ceremony, held on Saturday, December 8, 2018. She completed her doctoral research in a dissertation about the differences in college readiness in reading, in mathematics, and in both subjects by ethnicity/race and gender.
Dr. Johnson recently joined Baylor University as an Associate Director in the School of Education. Prior to joining the School of Education, Dr. Johnson served 12 years in K-12 education in roles spanning instructional to administration. She started as a middle school language arts teacher, then became a language arts and reading content instructional specialist, and lastly served as a human resources recruiter. Additionally, she taught developmental English as an adjunct faculty member, which was her introduction to working in higher education.
Dr. Johnson is also an alumna of Prairie View A&M University with a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and she is a 2002 honor graduate of Fairfield High School. She is the daughter of BJ and Connie Johnson and granddaughter of Lela Johnson of Fairfield, Texas.
