A National Day of Mourning has been declared for President George H.W. Bush on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

President Donald Trump has issued an Executive order to close Federal offices and excuse all Federal employees from duty on this day, to all them to join their fellow citizens in remembering our forth-first President of the United States.

This means that all federal buildings, including post offices, will be closed on Wednesday.

Heads of Federal Agencies may require certain employees, who cannot be excused for reasons of national security, defense, or other essential public business, to stay on duty.

President Bush passed away on November 30, 2018 at the age of 94.

A war hero, he is also the former ambassador to the United Nations, and the former Director of the CIA. He was born in Massachusetts and attended Phillips Academy in Andover. On the day he turned 18, he volunteered for combat duty during World War II. At the time he was the youngest aviator in naval history.

Flags have been ordered to fly at half-staff on all federal, state, and city owned buildings for 30 days.
