Manning Stephens Jr. of Fairfield was appointed to represent subdivision 5 of the Freestone County Soil and Water Conservation District #424.
Mr. Stephens fills the unexpired term of Don Schill who served on the board for the past 16 years.
The Freestone County SWCD’s headquarters is based in the federal USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Fairfield field office.
“The Freestone County SWCD’s purpose is to make available to local landowners and operators’ technical, financial and educational resources to help them better conserve the soil, water and related resources which they manage or own,” said Wesley Ratcliff chairman of the district.
The Freestone County SWCD is a political subdivision of state government and is divided into five subdivisions.
Subdivision 5’s boundaries include Beginning at the intersection of I-45 and US 84, thence southwesterly and then northwesterly along US 84, to its intersection with the Freestone-Limestone County line, thence southeasterly along the Freestone-Limestone County line to its intersection with the Freestone-Leon County line, thence northeasterly along the Freestone-Leon County line to its intersection with I-45, thence northerly along I-45 to its intersection with US 84 which is the point of beginning.
“We want to welcome Manning Stephens Jr. as a member of our board of directors. As a member of our board he will play a significant role in helping our district provide technical assistance to our district cooperators who wish to implement conservation programs on their land,” said Wesley Ratcliff chairman of the district.
