Fairfield’s FCA hosted Fields of Faith October 9 at the Eagle Field starting at 6:00 p.m. FCA, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is a non-denominational Christian sports ministry that motivates athletes to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are lost. FCA meets every Thursday at break.

“I enjoy watching young people grow in a positive way,” coach Kevin Childers said. “It enforces their questions about Jesus, and they become to know the importance of being a servant [of God] both now and down the road.”

Fields of Faith is a community event where athletes, friends, and family can congregate together and worship. Meals will be provided at 6:00 p.m., the official Worship will start at 6:45 p.m., and the event should conclude around 8:00 p.m. The service will also include music performed by a live band, and both youth speakers and speakers from Round Prairie Baptist Church.

“Fields of Faith is an important outreach event for the students who are introduced to the gospel in their home or family,” FCA leader Mason Edwards said. “We get a chance to share the gospel and maybe change their life while having fun.”

FCA is also responsible for sharing the Word of God outside of school. On September 29, a group of students visited the Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to speak with the inhabitants and to show them that they mattered.

“FCA is about reaching out to people at out school,” athlete Eli Owens said. “Spreading the love of Jesus is what it is all about.”

This year, the student athletes were given the opportunity to vote for three other students that they wanted as leaders, in which the top five voted students were appointed to those spots. The leaders are juniors Connor Colvert, Rhett Ralstin, Mason Edwards, Laiken Carlson, and senior Justus Savage.

“As a leader, I try to invite people every week to grow our group,” FCA leader Rhett Ralstin said. “I enjoy bringing more people closer to Christ a little more each meeting.”
