Faye Marie Donovan, 91, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Freestone Medical Center in Fairfield, Texas. Graveside services were held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Lake Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Pancras Savarimuthu officiating.
Mrs. Donovan was born June 28, 1925 in Red River County, Texas to parents Lucy Elizabeth and James Ewell Bailey. After attending school in Clarksville, Texas, she married Daniel Patrick Donovan on July 30, 1948. Mr. Donovan was the son of Alice and Daniel Donovan, also of Clarksville, Texas.
Faye and Pat moved their family to Fairfield in 1951, where they raised seven children in the Catholic faith. She was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church of Fairfield.
Mrs. Donovan will be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife and loving mother and grandmother. Living through the Great Depression, she learned early in life the values of family, determination and hard work. These values are the legacy that she and her husband leave to their children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Donovan was employed at Whiteside Manufacturing and is remembered by many for her work in food service at Fairfield High School. However, her true life’s work was that of a homemaker and mother. Her family will always remember her labors of love-gardening, canning, and cooking wonderful meals.
They remember the hours she spent cooking, sewing and tirelessly tending the needs of a growing family. Faye and her beloved husband leave their family with memories of wonderful holidays and frequent family gatherings which have now spanned four generations.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, her parents, her daughter Mary Minchew of Fairfield, and brothers James Thomas and Bill Bailey.
Left to cherish her memory are six children, Patricia Tate and husband Leslie of Fairfield; Sherry Bryant and David Wood of Tyler; Dan Donovan and wife Carol of Dallas; Belinda Colyer of Fort Worth; James Tracy Donovan and wife Brenda of Mansfield, Debbie Berger and husband Kevin of Rockwall; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She leaves four siblings; a sister, Evelyn Austin of Bisbee, Arizona; a brother, Donnie Bailey and wife Shirley of Clarksville, Texas; a sister, Betty Harper and husband Roy of Pattonville, Texas and a sister, Nancy Barton and husband James of Clarksville, Texas.
