Mrs. Faye Childs, 101, of Fairfield, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Fairfield. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Pastor Harry Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Day Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Pallbearers are Marc Ivy, Leldon Childs, Larry Childs, Geoffrey Childs, Aaron Bennett and Jon Bruce Childs. Honorary pallbearers are Colin Ivy, John Bailey, Clay Childs, Tyler Hochstetler, Mike Millette, Tony DeBorde and Christian Childs.
Mrs. Childs was born in Freestone County on December 1, 1914 to parents John Willard and Cora Lee Missildine Moore. She married Johnny Hoyle Childs on January 5, 1935 and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She was a lifetime area resident and a member of New Life Assembly of God Church. For many years she cooked at the former Fairfield Hospital and was known by family, friends and neighbors for her advanced skills in the kitchen.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Clayton Childs in 1998; two brothers, John Felix Moore and Jerry Moore; two sisters, Mable Utsey and Jean Blissett.
Left to cherish her memory are four children, Cora Sue Lambert and husband Ralph of Fairfield; Janice Ivy and husband Sydney of Fairfield; David Hoyle Childs; Bruce Childs; one sister, Peggy DeBorde of Houston, TX; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
