As the summer heat continues to escalate, Teague Nursing & Rehab collected donated new fans for homebound Freestone county Seniors on the Meals on wheels program. The support will do more than give someone relief from the heat for our seniors; it could save their lives.
The community drive was held from June 12th through 28th with a total of 38 fans donated.
Fans were dropped off to Teague Nursing & Rehab, Teague & Fairfield senior centers, Brookshire Brothers of Fairfield and Brookshire Brothers of Teague.
Thank you to both Brookshire Brothers locations for allowing us a spot to have has a drop off location.
There are about 70 homebound seniors in Freestone County. Director of the Senior Center, Stephanie Overall (pictured), said it was, by far, the most successful fan drive yet.
Drivers for Meals on Wheels will determine those that need the fans, since they know the seniors, and the environment they live in.
This is the second drive, and plans are in the works for next year.
Thanks to the community for all your support. IT’S COOL TO GIVE!
