Valedictorian
“I feel like I am receiving a deserving award for the many years of hard work and dedication I’ve put in and out of the classroom,” says Fairfield High School Class of 2019 Valedictorian, Angeles Michelle Rosales (at top left).
Touting a grade point average of 5.46, Michelle plans to further her education at Texas A&M University to earn a degree in Biology.
“While taking the Dual Credit Biology class, my teacher, Deborah Hamilton, opened my mind and wonder for the field of biology,” she explains.
Michelle has participated in UIL Journalism, UIL Science, UIL Ready Writing, Beta Club, Interact Club, Color Guard, Band, and Cross Country.
She has earned such honors as Top Five Student, two-time State Solo and Ensemble qualifier, Color Guard Captain, UIL Journalism regionals qualifier, and teacher student awards.
The daughter of Olga Almaraz and Luis Rosales, Michelle has one sibling, Ahtziri Rosales.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys playing soccer, running, and working out.
She also volunteers and participates for events at the Fairfield Intermediate School.
“Mrs. Hamilton taught my classmates and me that the road to success will present many, many obstacles, but every single person is capable of endurance and overcoming,” says Michelle about the teacher who has inspired her the most.
Michelle appreciates the teachers who were passionate about their classroom and the success of their students. “Their help and support have helped me reach this far,” she explains.
She has this to say to her underclassmen as she moves forward, “Do not be afraid to step up and out of your comfort zone!”
She concludes by saying, “From my experience, I’ve learned and want to put out that in order to succeed, you have to put in the work and be prepared to face the challenges you will come across.”
Michelle, along with the class of 2019, will walk the stage at 8:00 p.m. this Friday evening, May 24, 2019 at Eagle Field in Fairfield.
Salutatorian
“As a student at FHS, the thing I appreciate most is that it has taught me the value of hard work and the many opportunities that will present,” states 2019 FHS Salutatorian, Anna Kaye Williams (at top right). “I have definitely been challenged in high school, and I believe it has thoroughly prepared me for college and life in general.”
With a grade point average of 5.39, Anna Kaye has had a very busy and successful four years at FHS.
“I feel honored to be awarded for the hard work I’ve put in,” she says of earning the title of Salutatorian.
The daughter of Helyn and Sheldon Williams, and sister to Drew Williams, Anna Kaye has plans to attend Sam Houston State University to secure an education in Music Therapy.
“I want to help others in any way I can by doing something I love,” she says.
Her advice to underclassmen: “Involve yourself in as many ways as you can in high school. It gives you opportunity to make many new friends and will help time pass faster.”
Below is a list of Anna Kaye’s many activities, achievements, and honors over the past four years.
–School Participation: Band, Drama Club, School Newspaper, Beta Club, Interact Club, UIL – One Act Play, UIL Journalism, and FCA.
–School Honors: All-State Journalism Staff (2 years), 6th Place in Copy Editing at State UIL, State Solo & Ensemble (4 years), All-Region Band, and All-Region Jazz Band.
–Community Activities: Member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield.
Outside of school, Anna Kaye enjoys playing piano, composing music, and writing.
A source of inspiration to Anna Kaye is her grandmother. “She has continued to inspire me over the past few years, showing me how to be joyful in all circumstances and to love everyone.”
