Approving the final plans and location, Fairfield City Council gave the final go-ahead to pursue a grant for the proposed Fairfield Splashpad.
“The plan incorporates everything the folks asked for,” says City Administrator Jeff Looney.
Receiving a quote from Vortex Aquatic Play Solutions, the $375,558 Splashpad will include three “bays,” one for Toddlers, one for Teens, and a large area for Famiies.
One the product list are an Aqualian Rain Forest, Cattail, Ground Geyser, Jet Stream, Spray Loop and Super wave. Other elements include a fish, a flower, a leaf and a snail.
The SplashPad will be located at the north end of the Kiddie Park playground.
This location is already fenced in and may incorporate existing water and sewer lines.
Also included with the SplashPad project will be additional restrooms, which have been needed at the fairgrounds for many years.
Assisting with the plans and architectural drawings is Michael N. Tibbets of Hayter Engineering, Inc. These will be included in the grant application for up to $550,000 in matching funds.
Once the final approval was received, Looney planned to make calls to community leaders to “to find out what contributions we can count on.”
If all goes as planned, Fairfield may have a new water feature for its citizens to enjoy next summer.
