Fairfield ISD School Board voted to purchase the Navarro Complex Property during their Monday, April 13, 2020 meeting. Amount approved is $500,000.
The property is approximately 11 acres, and has a variety of buildings.
Included on the property is the Welding shop that is already a part of the school districts Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams explained while existing structures usage has not been finalized at this time. “The hope is to improve and enhance our CTE program facilities and/or use the space for new construction,” he said.
The conversation is still in a fluid state and will continue through next year to be able to put plans fully into place.
Another environmental assessment of the buildings has been completed, and the school district plans to handle any asbestos and/or mold issues that the assessment discovered.
Financially the School District is in good shape, and “, this purchase was an investment in the District’s future,” explained Dr. Adams.
Closing is anticipated within the next ninety days, but there are no exact dates as of yet.
The initial setup includes maintenance, technology, and security, along with any needs and repairs will begin being assessed in the upcoming weeks.
Plans will begin to solidify moving into next year.
