The weekly Lake Fairfield Tuesday Night Bass Tournament was held on August 21st. Only twelve anglers participated with four legal bass being weighed in.
Bobby Driskell of Fairfield placed first with a 5.51 pound largemouth. Once again in the money, Gail Cates of Mexia placed second with a fish weighing 4.08 pounds. The other two anglers weighing fish were Lane Smith of Mexia (3.09 pounds), and Easton Driskell (2.98 pounds), a Fairfield first grader and son of this week’s winner. Driskell took home $108 with Cates pocketing $72.
Entry fee for the event is $15 per person with 100% of the entry fees being paid back to the winning fishermen. Payout on a field of 1-20 entries is 60% of the pot for first place and 40% for second. If 21 or more anglers participate, the pot is split 50% for first, 30% for second and 20% for third place.
The weekly tournament is conducted out of the front boat ramp at Lake Fairfield. Registration is taken from 5:30 pm-5:55 pm. Tournament hours are 6 pm until 9 pm. For more information, contact Paul Cobb at 903.879.0422 or Scooter Long at 903-391-7000.
