The Fairfield Junior High EGLZ News team recently entered the Interscholastic League Press Conference (ILPC) State Broadcast Contest. They competed against 1A through 4A high schools and middle schools across Texas. ILPC is a UIL Academic competition for journalism.
The team received the Distinguished Achievement Award in Broadcasting. They competed in eleven categories, placing in seven. FJH EGLZ News received 1st place in Announcements, 2nd place in Documentary, and 2nd place in graphics.
Team Members include: 6th Graders- Lily Beaver, Evan Chavers, Madox Mitchael, and Addie Cox; 7th Graders- McKinna Brackens, Spain Covert, Ellie Grissett, and Jacob Schick; 8th Graders- Nathan Dunlap, Alexis Gallegos, Jeremy Kilkenny, Rachel Lewis, Jordan Maciel, and Ally Robinson; and Digital Media teacher Tammy Gawryszewski.
Jordan Maciel received 3rd place in General News Story. Jeremy Kilkenny, Rachel Lewis, Jordan Maciel, and Ally Robinson received 3rd place in General News Writing. McKinna Brackens, Evan Chavers, and Addisyn Cox received 2nd place in Commercials. McKinna Brackens and Ellie Grissett received 3rd place in Special Coverage.
