Fairfield ISD School Board met to discuss how children will be returning to school this year, among other items on Monday, July 20, 2020.
Texas Education Association (TEA) set guidelines for school districts to implement before the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year to fight the spread of COVID-19.
Fairfield will be offering in classroom lessons, and a virtual, Asynchronous Plan (to be approved by TEA), for students not ready to return to the classroom setting.
A student commits to which method they choose for the entire nine week grading period.
The only exception is in the chance a child is exposed, displays symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.
At that point, they will be allowed to move to virtual schooling, and return once given the all clear.
This district has invested in special sanitizers, including electrostatic sprayers, steadily sprays a disinfecting spray that fights the virus.
One thousand gallons of hand sanitizer will be available for the school year, along with other personal protection equipment (PPE) such as facemasks.
Parents and/or guardians are expected to self-screen students, as staff is expected to self screen themselves.
All visitors must wear face coverings, and will not be allowed on campus unless it is a required visit.
Each campus Principal is still working on arrival and dismissal practice.
Social Distancing will be used, in classrooms when possible, in the lunch room, and any other place it is necessary.
Buses will employ hand sanitizer, open windows when possible, mask and social distancing to help protect students.
TEA and UIL guidelines will be adhered to along with any local decisions.
Additionally, Freestone Medical Center (FMC) is working with Fairfield ISD to ‘fast track’ students who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, and offer the teachers Facetime practitioners.
