Part of the Fairfield High School’s Culinary Arts program is to ensure students are able to obtain relevant job related certifications.
These certifications help them when they apply for jobs now locally as well as in the future.
One of the certifications offered at FHS is the Texas Food Handlers Certification, which is offered to Introduction to Culinary Arts students.
This certification focuses on safe food preparation and handling techniques and is intended for anyone that works in food preparation, storage, or service.
Texas Department of State Health Services requires that all employees are properly trained in food safety as it relates to their assigned duties.
The second certification offered is the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Server/Seller Certification. This certification course focuses on responsible alcohol sales in Texas and is intended for waiters, bartenders, cashiers, caterers, and anyone else who sells or serves alcohol.
Most employers will require an employee to be TABC certified before beginning work.
TABC strongly feels that trained sellers, servers, bartenders and managers are better able to identify and prevent sales of alcoholic beverages to minors, intoxicated persons, and non-members of a private club. Therefore, they recommend businesses make TABC seller server training mandatory for employees who sell or serve alcohol through the “Safe Harbor Act.”
The following students have worked hard and obtained their TABC Seller/Server Certification: Jada Clark, Jaylin Hughes, Arianna Thurman, Chloe Carter, Jesus Ramirez, Piper Niswanger, and Kalyn Ethridge. (Pictured at the very top)
Those obtaining their Texas Food Handlers Certification include: Eric Lyle, Ethan McNew, Bailey Mills, Abigail Coleman, Deandre Rosales, Ashanti Hampton, Demi Lambright, Daisa Hilburn, Tori Sikes, Chase Arriaga, Robert Perry, Ruben Madera, Isela Rodriguez, Autumn Neaville, Denise Ramos, Margie Savage, Bryona Harris, Edwin Espinosa, Aynslie Whiteside, Hana Kawanishi, and Shannon Langely.
Congratulations to these students.
