The Fairfield Eagles scored big in the first half and rolled over the Diboll Lumberjacks 51-7 on the road to take control of the District 9-3A standings at the end of the week nine night.
Fairfield takes the undisputed lead in the district standing by one game with the Teague win over Palestine Westwood in early Friday action.
Fairfield travels to Westwood Friday night in a huge matchup between top ten teams and potentially the district title is up for grabs.
The Eagle defense forced an early punt on the first possession, and the Fairfield offense made quick work to put the first points on the board. Jason Brackens carried five times on the drive and Kohl Collins completed one pass to Finn Smith on the 59-yard drive. Brackens took the handoff and scored on a four-yard run to open the lead that they would hold for the remainder of the night. Kieran King added the extra point for the 7-0 lead.
A three and out for the Lumberjacks put the Eagles at their 37 and the offense went back to work. Collins completed all three of his passes to inside the Lumberjack ten and Brackens answered the call, and his eight-yard run was the second of his four touchdowns on the night and the 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Diboll put together their best drive of the night in the first possession of the second quarter. Rylie Arambula completed three passes to three different receivers on the five-play drive. Aiden Morris caught a 16-yard touchdown pass for the only points of the night for Diboll, cutting the lead to 14-7.
The Lumberjacks worked the onside kick to perfection and recovered at the Fairfield 38, but they could not earn a first down and were forced to punt. The punt was downed at the Fairfield two-yard line, and the Eagles had a long way to go. Brackens carried for 37 yards to the 40-yard line and also had the final three carries of the drive, the last on a 21-yard drive, breaking two tackles that had him almost on the ground and he remained up and burst for the goal. The point after extended the lead to 21-7.

Tate Lewis intercepted the Lumberjack pass and returned it to the Diboll 25 and the Eagles had the short field to work with. Down to the four mixing the run and the pass, Smith took the reverse and ran in from four yards out for the 28-7 lead that would take the game to the halftime break.
The teams exchanged possession in the opening moments of the second half, the Diboll possession stopped by an interception by Braylan McMillian. The seven play drive, all on the ground with Khamrion Ingram and Brackens ended with the touchdown on a 22-yard run by Brackens.
With the game in hand, the Eagle offense went to some reserves and never missed a beat. Kyden Rodriguez scored on one yard run and the Eagle defense recorded a safety on snap over the Diboll punters head. Ingram added the final touchdown on an eight-yard run and the final score of 51-7.
Jason Brackens carried the ball eleven times for 165 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Eagle offense.
Fairfield will travel to Palestine to take on the Westwood Panthers. Westwood suffered their first loss of the season with the Teague win and will look to take back control, but they will have a tall order against the unbeaten Fairfield Eagles.
