The Fairfield Eagles ended a busy week with two wins and will complete the regular season on the road in Buffalo Tuesday night. They have already secured the third-place finish in District 20-3A and the runner up spot in the Division I playoffs.

Fairfield opened the week in Elkhart to make up the game that was postponed when both schools closed due to illness. Fairfield opened a double-digit lead and held on for a 54-46 win. McElroy and Turner led the way with 11 points and 7 points in the balanced scoring sheet for Fairfield. Javon Smith scored 16 points to lead all scorers, but the Elks came up short and would also finish short in the playoff chase.

The Eagles took the road trip to Palestine Westwood to take on the second place Panthers.

Fairfield managed the game well through the first half and led 36-25 at the break. Both teams shot the ball well in the opening moments of the third period and McElroy scored eight of his 21 points in the frame. Westwood star Kavion Bryant left the game to be evaluated and returned to score 26 points in the second half. Westwood took the lead in the final period and never looked back in the 80-71 win.

Bryant led all scorers with 42 points. Chris Carter scored nine of his 14 in the final period and David Russell finished with 13 points.

The Eagles returned home to finish the week against the Teague Lions. Fairfield jumped out to a big first half lead and finished off a 64-42 win. The balanced scoring attack by Fairfield was more than the Lions could overcome. Teague missed their final eight shots of the first period and their first eight of the second period. The stretch of shooting for Teague had them at two of 24 through the end of the third and the Lions trailed by double figures.

Mexia clinched the district title with Westwood, Fairfield and Buffalo rounding out those that have clinched the playoffs. Fairfield and Mexia enter the playoffs as Division I representatives.
