Eagle Fans,
Starting the sixth week of school and we are full speed into all the seasons.
Volleyball will start district play this Friday in Palestine at 4:30pm. The girls defeated Mabank last Tuesday and lost to Iola on Friday. Our 9th grade team finished 3rd in the Franklin Volleyball Tournament and our JV girls WON the Franklin Tournament. Good job ladies. Our jr. high defeated Palestine last Monday and will play in Frankston Monday. Busy, Busy, Busy.
Our Cross Country team ran at our Golden Eagle Run on Saturday. Thank you to all that helped us run off the event and came to watch our athletes compete. On the girls side, we won all the divisions. Our Jr.high placed first overall, with Maddox Mitchael (1st), Arly Salazar (2nd), Avery Thaler (3rd), EmmaJo Smith(6th), and Emily Leatherman (9th). The JV won the meet as well with Brooke Leatherman (1st), Natalia Salazar (2), Jenny Pina (3), Alyssa Thorne (4), and Paige Allen (5). The Varsity won the Meet as well with Madison Smith (1), Morgan Coleman (2), Jarahle Daniels (4), Erica McQuinn (5), Michelle Castillo (8), Ashlyn Partain (11), and Diana Casteneda (12). Way to go Ladies.
Our Jr. High boys placed 4th placed overall with Noe Espinoza finishing 7th place overall. The JV boys were led by Kevin Portillo placing 8th overall. In the Varsity, we placed 3rd overall with Deandre Rosales finishing 15th. Our Cross Country will compete in Ennis on Saturday. Good luck Eagles and Lady Eagles.
In football, the jr.high played its first games of the season in Athens. Our 7b won 6-0, 7a lost a close on 20-14, 8b lost 6-0, and our 8a won a close one 6-0. Great job Eagles, they will play in Palestine on Thursday starting with the 7b at 4:30pm. Our Freshman lost 14-8 and our JV lost 32-26 in a rainy overcast night. The boys competed hard and will be ready to play Palestine here beginning at 5pm Thursday. The Varsity went to Athens on Friday and got its 3rd win on the year. We defeated the Hornets 53-28. Blake Posey led the offense with 13 carries for 134 yards and threw for 194 yards. KD Walker and Jar-Mychael Hudson rushed for 80 yards each. DaQuann McWilliams led the team in receiving yards with 96 yards. Our leading tacklers were KD Walker (15 tackles), Jaise Oliver (12), and Parker Eidson (10). We will be in Palestine on Friday for our next game.
