Jonathan Cain Jr., Fairfield ISD 2014 graduate, had no idea what was to come when Hurricane Dorian first started forming.
Cain works for Ruan Transportation, who has over ten years experience helping with disaster relief looking for Disaster Volunteers to help the city.
When Ruan received news that Hurricane Dorian would be impacting the Florida coastline, they began to prepare their hurricane relief procedures.
Among many the drivers, Cain is transporting bottled water, and is currently enroute to Wilmington, North Carolina with documentation allowing him to reenter the evacuation zones.
As customers donate water and other supplies for relief, Ruan gets their drivers organized into a relief effort.
A close eye is kept on the storm to reroute drivers, keeping them from being too close in the storm’s path and making sure they deliver the relief items where they can be of the most use.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is coordinating with the states that have Declared Emergency Declarations.
The FMCSA notes that the emergency declaration applies to truckers who are providing “direct assistance for the immediate restoration of essential services (such as electrical, sewer, water, and telecommunications) or essential supplies (such as food, water, medical supplies, and fuel).”
Good luck to Jonathan Cain Jr. as he goes above and beyond his jobs expectations to help others in their terrifying time of need.
