Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas announces the kickoff today of its YES! Summer Teacher Externship project in partnership with the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12. The YES! (Youth Employment Solutions) Summer Teacher Externship project will provide high school teachers with the opportunity to engage in activities through an externship with employers.
The YES! Summer Teacher Externship project will provide teachers with externship opportunities with employers in targeted in-demand industry sectors that include Manufacturing, Construction, Health Care, and the Professionals & Business Services industries. The goal of the project is to inform teachers on the skill sets required for a given industry so that teachers can then inform, educate, and guide students to industries that match student skill sets. Connecting classroom content to the real world and the workplace will help students understand and develop the academic and technical skills they need to enter the workforce and compete for jobs that are in demand in the Heart of Texas region.

Summer Teacher Externship project available through a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission and through its partnership with ESC Region 12.
