The 2016 Fairfield One Stop Recycle Drop will be held on Friday, November 18th from 8:30 a.m. to noon and Saturday, November 19th from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Fairfield High School bus loop on Post Oak Road.
This month, in addition to the normal recycling; they will be having a food drive, donations, disposals, and additional recycling.
Acceptable items for monthly recycling:
–Paper Products: All newspaper, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, shredded paper, cardboard & office/household mixed paper. Please do not include confidential paperwork unless you have properly shredded.
–Plastic: All plastic numbered 1-7, such as water bottles, milk jugs, etc.
–Metal: All metal food and beverage cans can be recycled. Food cans should be rinsed.
–Glass: All clean glass bottles/jars accepted. Please remove lids. No plate glass. Please separate light bulbs and glass from all other recyclables.
Acceptable additional items this month:
–Medication Disposal: Freestone County Environmental Health officers will accept medications for responsible disposal. Unwanted prescriptions and over-the-counter medication is accepted. No liquids or needles.
–Textiles: Clothing, coats, shoes, towels, sheets, blankets, etc. All items must be clean and dry. Items in good, reusable condition are donated for redistribution to families in need in Freestone County and also to the FUMC homeless ministry. Items no longer usable are recycled.
–Electronics: ESC Refining will accept electronics for recycling. ESC is E-Steward and R2 certified and clears all personal information to DOD standards. Acceptable items include: computers, computer accessories, monitors, televisions, printers, DVD/CD Players, copiers, fax machines, scanners, typewriters, telephones, cell phones and chargers, GPS units, pagers, PDA and tablets, answering machines, MP3 players, external hard drives, radios and boom-box, video and camera equipment, communications equipment, video games systems, cable boxes/DVR, circuit boards, microwaves, cables, wires, power cords, and power strips. Not Acceptable items are: yard equipment, gas powered equipment, water coolers, paper shredders, propane tanks, space heaters, household appliances, smoke detectors, no CRT tubes without cases, Freon, wooden speakers, ceramic and glass lamps, Christmas trees, crock pots, electric blankets, exercise equipment, or garbage disposals.
–Batteries: Batteries Plus Bulbs will accept NiCd, NiMH, lead, lithium ion batteries. Batteries of AC/DC equipment will also be accepted. This includes car batteries.
–Light Bulbs: Batter Plus Bulbs will accept spent, unbroken bulbs from residential use.
–Prescription Glasses: Eyeglasses, sunglasses, reading glasses, glasses frames and accessories will be accepted for donation to the Fairfield Lions Club.
The community recycle event is sponsored as a partnership between the Fairfield ISD Recycle Team, Fairfield History Club, FHS and FJH Interact Clubs, FHS Family & Community Services Class, Detective Bill Madding, Progressive Waste, Fairfield Rotary Club, River of Life Community Food Pantry, and the City of Fairfield.
