In Freestone County, events and meetings have been postponed or cancelled, due to CDC recommendations of gathering in groups of no more then 50, and then 10, people at a time.
So far, they include:
Fairfield Library has closed completely to events and meetings. A drive-by service is being offered for books and crafts for children. Story Time videos are being posted each Wednesday.
Fairfield Fest and Market Days was cancelled for the month of March. Stay tuned for information about April events.
Teague Chamber of Commerce is postponing their annual Chamber Awards Banquet and the Barnes and Carson Circus until sometime after May.
Teague City Wide Cleanup is postponed until further notice.
Fairfield ISD Education Foundation is postponing their fourth annual Gala and Murder Mystery Dinner.
Dogan Alumni Walkathon is being postponed and the inaugural Cajun Festival (and Gumbo Cook-Off) has been cancelled. Both events were originally scheduled for Saturday, April 4th.
Freestone County Retired Teachers has canceled the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 1st. Check your newspaper, email, and Facebook for the next meeting date.
The Hamburger / Hotdog fundraiser hosted by UMC Women – First United Methodist Church of Wortham on March 21st will be rescheduled at a later date.
The annual Eggstravaganza on the Courthouse Square in Fairfield has been cancelled. This event, hosted by the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, was originally set for Saturday, April 11th.
Kindness from Case’s Scrambling For Scholarships entire event (golf scramble, dinner & dance) that had been set for March 28th has been postponed until further notice.
Both Candidate Forums – March 31st in Fairfield and April 2nd in Teague – for City and School Elections have been cancelled by host Freestone County Times. Texas Governor Abbott is allowing for Municipalities and School Districts to postpone elections to November 3, 2020. Stay tuned.
Freestone Cancer Support Group has postponed their Spring Style Show that was scheduled for April 14th. An alternate date will be announced in the future.

The Boys and Girls Little Dribblers National Tournament, originally scheduled for April 15-18, is being postponed, according to local organizer, Billy McMillian. The first or third week of June is being considered as an alternate date.
