The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 held its monthly meeting at the Grand Ennis Buffet in Ennis on Tues., 13 Dec 2016. The guest speaker was chapter member Carol Grey Honza, an author from Ennis.  Charles Graffam, the NARFE Texas Northeast Area Vice President, also installed the officers for 2017.

Carol Honza talked about her motivation for writing and how she came to be an author due to a workplace challenge resulting in a trip to Las Vegas after winning a contest with the National Poetry Association. She discussed her books: My Heart’s Inkwell,  A Mystery at St. Ann’s: The Orphan’s Christmas Miracle,  as well as her most recent effort, Invisible is the Color of the Wind, which reflects her family’s experience in the military living in Japan when she was a child. Ms. Honza grew up in Dallas, attended Sunset High School, worked in real estate for a number of years as well as the FDIC.

NARFE elected chapter officers for 2017 were installed by Charles Graffam, Texas NARFE Northeast Area Vice President who resides in Frisco, TX.  Elected officers for 2017 include: James Whitfield, Sec.; Ed White, Treas.; Al Loviscek, 2nd Vice Pres.; Steve Armstrong, 1st Vice Pres.; and Rex Carey, Pres.

NARFE Chap. 1191 covers Ellis, Navarro and adjacent parts of the surrounding counties.
