Dear Editor,
When I was a young boy during WW II, we had two framed pictures on our living room walls: Franklin Roosevelt and Jesus. My parents held one almost as high as the other. Everyone we knew had an FDR picture displayed similarly. By the time I was in high school and college, there was Eisenhower and the GOP and other ideas to consider.
Later came John Kennedy’s New Frontier and LBJ’s Great Society and War on Poverty. Each of these democrat-party programs might have been well-intentioned. Each of them failed.
After Nixon and his scandals, military debacles, etc., we suffered almost two decades of Clinton and Obama bad governance and corruption. We survived as a nation.
Then came Trump. I personally do not like the man, but his track record of positives is indisputable: lowest unemployment in 40 years, improved NAFTA, dissolution of the treasonous Iran-Nuclear deal, stronger military than for years and growing, lower taxes, stronger economy, confronts our military and trade adversaries, and recently a stronger, constitutional U.S. Supreme Court.
Now, we face next month the congressional midterm elections. Here in Texas we have Beto O’Rourke vs Ted Cruz. Again, I don’t care for Cruz personally, but I believe the alternative is a Hillary/Obama/Bernie Sanders socialist.
If the dems take back the congress as they are trying to do, we could sink into the type of welfare state that bankrupted Great Britain, turned Cuba into a 3rd world state, and ruined the richest nation in south America (Venezuela).
Socialism is not American; it doesn’t work, and it is poison to our American way of life. We need to defeat these liberal socialists with our vote next month.
God bless America!
