It is with great excitement to announce TXHIA’s East Texas Regional Hemp Conference to be held at the Barnhill Center in Brenham, TX on October 20-22. The conference will follow the Texas Arts and Music Festival in Brenham that begins on Friday, October 18th.
The West Texas – San Angelo conference in August was well received and attended, video can be seen online at txhia.org/event.
Partial Agenda:
–Sunday, October 20, 1-6 – “Vendors Speak” event where vendors will have 20 minutes to share the value propositions for their products or services with attendees. Free for All Event Attendees.
Keynote Speakers:
–Monday, October 21, 8-5 – Dan Hunter, TDA Assistant Commissioner, who is heading up the hemp program to speak in the morning.
–Tuesday, October 22, 8-5 – Mark Case with Southern Hemp Marketplace to be discussing the International Hemp Auction and Market to be held in Tennessee in November.
In mid-September, the USDA submitted their rules to the White House Office of Management and Budget for approval. The expectation is that the USDA will have their rules out by this event. The conference includes many experienced and professional speakers who will focus on growing, processing and manufacturing hemp. Other speakers will be discussing testing, compliance, horticulture methods, crop insurance, etc. Space is limited.
This is the second of four regional events the TXHIA is organizing prior to a state conference in the spring once the TDA has established the rules. County Coordinators (CC) are being established to help organize their communities. See online at www.txhia.org/coordinators. Interactive map to view the list of CCs by county or may be viewed at www.txhia.org/regions.
The TXHIA is working diligently to provide accurate information to farming communities in hopes of networking farmers, processors and manufacturers to create balance between raw materials from the field to deliver to processing and manufacturing facilities. These steps are critical to create stable retail markets for the three main cultivar types of grain, essential oil (CBD, CBG, etc.) and fiber to provide food, feed, supplements, fiber, building materials and many other industrial uses.
